Blog Update: What’s New on Simply Investing

💭 A Thought About Change

“The only constant thing is change.”
I think that quote is from Heraclitus — though I might be paraphrasing a bit. Either way, I really like it, and I deeply believe in it.

In this short post, I’d like to talk about change — specifically, the changes that have happened here on my blog.

🌱 How It All Started

I launched this blog at the beginning of 2025. For some reason, I’ve always liked the idea of having my own little corner on the internet — a place where I can share my thoughts.

As usual with me, once I get an idea, I read a bit about it and then just dive in. When I started building the blog, I honestly had no idea what I was doing. To be fair, I still don’t know if I’m doing things “right,” but at least I’ve learned a few things along the way.

Over the past nine months, the blog has gone through several changes — and I’m sure there will be more in the future. My goal is to keep improving it as I gain experience. So let’s take a quick look at how it all began and where things stand now.

🖥️ From Design Disaster to Something I’m Proud Of

Let’s start with the design. To put it simply — it was terrible.

I wanted this to be my personal project, so I decided not to use professional help and to build the page myself. Big mistake. The layout was bad, the structure was messy, and nothing felt intuitive. It wasn’t pleasing to the eye at all.

Still, I was proud of myself — it was my first attempt at creating my own space online. But that satisfaction didn’t last long, and I started looking for ways to improve.

After reading more on the topic, I realized the issue was my theme choice — I hadn’t picked a WordPress theme that suited my needs. So I began testing different ones until I found the design you’re seeing now.

Is it perfect? Probably not. But I enjoy visiting my own blog much more now.
Would I change it again? Not for now — but I’m open to better ideas in the future.
(If you have favorite WordPress themes that you think would fit my style, feel free to share them in the comments!)

🌐 Changing the Blog Name and Domain

The next big change was the domain name. When I first launched the blog, the address was wealthydummy.com.

I chose it because it sounded fun and light-hearted — not because I’m wealthy (yet 😄), but because I aspire to be one day. The name reflected my early mindset and a bit of humor about my financial journey.

Later, I realized that Wealthy Dummy didn’t really communicate the purpose of the blog — neither to visitors nor to search engines. I wanted a name that clearly reflected my main focus: investing.

That’s how I landed on Simply Investing.
When I checked for available domains, I found simplyinvesting.blog was open — and it immediately felt right. It captured my vision perfectly.

The .blog extension was even on sale at the time, so switching wasn’t expensive. The only downside is that maintaining a .blog domain might cost a bit more than a .com, but nothing too dramatic.

By the way, wealthydummy.com is still active — visitors are simply redirected to simplyinvesting.blog.

📁 New Blog Categories

After updating the design and name, I made one more important change — the categories.

Initially, I planned to write about both investing and personal finance. For a while, I managed to balance the two, but over time I found myself naturally focusing more on investing.

That’s understandable — this blog is a side project, and time is limited, so I’ve leaned toward the topic that excites me the most.

Previously, the blog had two main categories:

  • Simply Investing
  • Simply Personal Finance

Eventually, I realized that having a category I rarely used didn’t make sense. So I restructured everything.

Now the blog has three categories:

  1. Simply Investing – regular portfolio updates, stock buys/sells, and investment decisions. This is also where you’ll find my monthly portfolio reviews.
  2. Simply Stock Analysis – a new section for in-depth company analyses. These posts take more time to prepare but allow me to dive deeper into specific names we discuss in Simply Investing.
  3. Simply Blogging – a place for thoughts that don’t quite fit the other two categories. The post you’re reading right now is part of this one — it’s where I share general reflections, market thoughts, or anything finance-related that doesn’t belong elsewhere.

🔁 Embracing Change

These are the main updates I’ve made so far. There will probably be more in the future — because I’m still learning.

But regardless of the changes, the mission and focus of this blog remain the same:
to share my thoughts about finance and investing.

You’ll never find financial or investment advice here — only my reflections and personal experiences, with the hope of sparking conversations that help us all become better investors and thinkers.

✨ Final Thoughts

Both investing and blogging have turned out to be real adventures for me.

I’ve discovered how much I truly enjoy doing this, and I hope to continue for a long time. I also hope this update was interesting for you — and that you’ll join me on my journey in the world of blogging by subscribing to the blog.

I’d also love to hear your thoughts in the comments — what do you think about the changes I’ve made?

See you in the next post!
